Objectives: This study aims to develop a central ventilator monitoring system(CVMS) that reduces the inconvenience of monitoring ventilators in severe hospital beds that treat respiratory patients from infectious diseases such as COVID-19 which effectively prevents infection, decreases psychological and physical fatigue of medical staff, and increases economic effects.
Methods: The development of a central ventilator monitoring system(CVMS) followed the procedure of Discover-Define-Develop-Deliver by applying the 4D-Double Diamond design process model.
Results: As a result of the pilot application of CVMS, it was possible to check the patient's condition at all times, to ensure the immediacy of treatment decision-making, and to prevent infection with the emotional and physical stability of patients and medical staff. In addition, by reducing protective clothing and unnecessary time for medical staff, an economic effect was derived by suppressing additional manpower allocation and spending the secured time to other tasks.
Conclusion: The Central Ventilator Monitoring System(CVMS) is a system that was first developed for central monitoring by connecting ventilators of a different release years, specifications, and manufacturers. It has been applied for domestic patents and PCT overseas patents. Therefore, it is expected that additional patents and research will be continued on the linking of mobile devices and other medical data in the future. It is meaningful in that commercialization through start-up or technology transfer is possible.
